Celebrating the closure of the 4th year of SciFY Academy, we decided to focus on a topic that has been much debated but also very interesting, Nanotechnologies. So, we organized a series of presentations, looking at the issue from a different perspective in each seminar.
"Nanotechnology & Applications that change our lives (?)" was the first topic of the series were Dr. Eleni Makarona, Principal Researcher at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at NCSR "Demokritos" and Dr. Konstantinos Giannakopoulos, Researcher at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at NCSR Demokritos (Laboratory of Electronic Microscopy and Nanomaterials) introduced us to the magnificent world of Nanotechnology. Specifically, we learnt about its applications so far and how it is used in areas such as pharmacology, materials technology, environment etc.

The second seminar of the series focused on the correlation of Nanotechnology with Society and Culture. More in detail at the event: "Threat or Opportunity for Culture & Society" Prof. Konstantinos Haritidis, Professor of the School of Chemical Engineering and Director of the Advanced, Complex, Nano and Nanotechnology Research Unit at the National Technical University of Athens and Dr. Ioannis Karatassios, Researcher at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at NCSR Demokritos enlightened us on the institutional framework, security, moral limits and the benefits that Nanotechnology has to offer at a social and cultural level.

Finally, the course on Nanotechnology was concluded with the future steps, the great collaboration with Artificial Intelligence. In the third seminar: "Nanotechnology & Artificial Intelligence: The Great Composition" speakers were Dr. Vassilis Konstantoudis, Researcher at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at NCSR "Demokritos" and Dr. George Giannakopoulos, Researcher of Artificial Intelligence at NCSR "Demokritos", Co-Founder of SciFY and BoD Member of the Hellenic Society of Artificial Intelligence, where they presented us how the two bigger trends in new technologies can be combined and what are the results of this great synthesis.
